Stew with Brussels sprouts and smoked bacon bits

Ingredients
 

  • 500 g sprouts (cleaned and halved)
  • 1 kg potatoes (peeled and cut large into 2)
  • 200 g smoked bacon bits
  • 25 g butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  • Clean the Brussels sprouts, halving or cutting into quarters if desired. Cook until tender in lightly salted. (Whole : 10 to 15 minutes – halved or quartered : 5 to 10 minutes).
  • Peel the potatoes and cook until tender in lightly salted water for 20 minutes.
  • Fry the bacon bits until crispy.
  • Puree and finish with butter and milk.
  • Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Beware, bacon is salty!
  • Combine everything together and serve.
