Cranberry Compote

Cranberry compote with fresh cranberries – ideal as a side dish with game dishes or as a sweet addition to desserts.

Ingredients
 

  • 350 g Cranberries (fresh or from the freezer)
  • 150 g sugar
  • 50 ml apple orange juice
  • 0,5 orange zest
  • 50 ml water
  • pinch of cinnamon (to taste)
  • honey (optional)

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients (except the honey) together in a saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once the mixture boils, lower the heat and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst open and the compote thickens.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Remove the cinnamon stick.
  • Taste the compote – add honey (or sugar) if desired for extra sweetness.
  • Serve or use in your dish.

  • Serve hot or cold as a side dish with game dishes, such as duck breast or pork tenderloin.
  • Use as a topping for desserts, such as cheesecake or panna cotta.
  • Spread on toast or serve with a cheese board for a sweet-fresh touch.
