Serving tip

Serve the Saint Nicholas buns lightly warmed with a layer of butter and a slice of cheese. Perfect to combine with a cup of hot chocolate for the ultimate Sinterklaas experience!

Tips

  • Make sure that you have similar sized cake pans. This is because the baking time may differ depending on the size of the cutout.
  • Klaaskoek or Saint Martin cake – in some regions Saint Martin is celebrated on Nov. 11 – Saint Nicholas is celebrated on Dec. 6.
  • Meanwhile, the same recipe is actually used for Christmas cake, Valentine’s cake and Easter cake, only the cut-out shape is different, of course.
