Pizza Margherita

A simple, classic Pizza Margherita that is always a hit. Fresh tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and a hint of basil make this a timeless favorite.

Ingredients
 

  • 4 Pizza dough balls (use the basic pizza dough recipe for a perfect base)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove look (chopped)
  • 100 g passata
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • version basil leaves (for the sauce)
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
  • 75 g mozzarella (preferably buffalo mozzarella, sliced or already grated)
  • extra virgin olive oil ( for finishing)
  • fresh basil leaves (for finishing)

Instructions

The sauce

  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add 1 clove look and fry until soft (not brown).
  • Then add the 100 g passata and 1 tsp sugar.
  • Add the finely shredded version basil leaves.
  • Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer the mixture over low heat for a few minutes until the sauce has thickened.

Roll out the dough

  • Roll out 4 Pizza dough balls into a round pizza crust, thickness as preferred.

Compose pizza

  • Preheat the oven to 250°C.
  • Place the rolled-out pizza crust on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the bottom, leaving the edges free for a nice crust.
  • Then place 75 g mozzarella on top.

Bake

  • Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Finish

  • Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with version basil leaves and a little extra virgin olive oil.
  • Cut into pieces and serve immediately.
