Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients but leave the ice cream in the freezer for now

Apples

  • Rinse the apples
  • Remove the core of the apple using an apple corer
  • Peel the apples
  • Cut the apples into slices about 1 centimeter thick
  • Squeeze the lemon and sprinkle over the apples
  • Stir occasionally so that the lemon juice spreads well

Dough

  • Put the flour and sugar in a large bowl
  • Add the eggs, oil and water (or beer)
  • Start stirring gently and then speed up until you get a homogeneous mass
  • Let rest for up to 10 minutes

Bake

  • Use your deep fryer or a separate pan
  • Heat the oil (max 170°)
  • Stir once more through the dough
  • Cap as many apple slices in the dough as can fit in the pan
  • Cap well and then carefully place slice by slice in the oil. Drip excess dough off the apple slices before placing in the oil.
  • Halfway through the baking time, turn the discs over so that the other side can also brown nicely
  • Baking time depends greatly on the temperature and your preferences and can be as long as 7-8 minutes if you prefer a “crispy” crust.
  • Place the fried apple fritters on a sheet of kitchen paper in such a way that the excess fat can soak into the kitchen paper.
  • Need to bake a lot of them? Place the baked apple fritters in a dish and keep warm in an oven at up to 150°.

Serve

  • Remove the ice cream from the freezer
  • Take a plate and place 3 apple fritters in it
  • Sprinkle the apple fritters with powdered sugar
  • Finish with an additional scoop of vanilla ice cream
