Croque Bolognese

1. Warm the Bolognese sauce over a very low heat.

Prepare the Croque Monsieur

1. Spread butter on one side of 8 slices of bread.
2. Place a slice of ham and two slices of cheese on an unbuttered side.
3. Cover with a second slice of bread, buttered side facing outwards.

Cooking

1. Heat a griddle pan or sandwich toaster over a medium heat.
2. Cook the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes on each side until the cheese melts and the bread is golden and crisp.

   

   Time range: choose the first timer to check progress or the last for the end of the stated time.

3. Place the toasted sandwiches in an ovenproof dish. Spoon a moderate amount of Bolognese sauce over them and sprinkle with grated cheese. Briefly place under the grill until the cheese melts and forms a crust.

Serving

1. Serve immediately, perhaps on a wooden board, with a small salad.
